Lockren
Amanda
Amanda Loughren has been singing for about
8 years. She became interested in singing after watching her
friends perform in a local talent show. She decided she wanted
to give it a try, and sang in public for the first time at her
school's 6th grade variety show. She then entered the next talent
show she could. Amanda tied for 2nd in her first talent show
and has been singing ever since.
Amanda practiced her singing at home in her bedroom but when
ever she got the chance to perform in front of a crowd she would
jump at it. She has performed in shows for Faye Dudley and where
ever she could find karaoke that would allow kids. In February
of 2003 Amanda was invited to perform with the band New Country
Generation at the 2003 Northeast Iowa Steel Guitar Jam. Since
then she has opened for the County Home Road Band and Country
Tradition at 3rd Street Live in Cedar Rapids. She also performed
with the band Diablo at Lets Dance in Cedar Rapids in
the summer of 2003.
Since 2003 Amanda has performed at the Belle Plaine Rodeo and
has performed the National Anthem at numerous sporting events
around the area including Local Stock Car Races, High School
Events, Cedar Rapids Kernels Baseball Games, Cedar Rapids River
Raiders Basketball Games, and Rough Riders Hockey Games. Amanda
did her own show for the first time in June of 2003 at 3rd Street
Live in Cedar Rapids.
Amanda also has performed regularly at the Coggon Opera House
in Coggon, Iowa and other venues in Talent Showcases which her
business "Amanda Entertainment" promotes and sponsors.
Amanda found out first hand how hard it is for a pre teen or
a teenager to find a place to perform. At present she has had
an impressive total of 45 different performers participate in
these talent showcases. These shows have featured a wonderful
variety of country, gospel, pop, classic rock, and acappella.
Through Amanda Entertainment she intends to continue
to promote Talent Showcases for talented youths that otherwise
would not get the chance to pursue their dreams.
In the spring of 2005 Amanda started the next phase of her career
with the debut of the band Lockren at the Coggon Opera House.
Since getting together, Lockren has played at venues such as
Let's Dance in Cedar Rapids, DanceMor in Swisher, The Yellow
Rose II in Ottumwa, Coconuts in Cedar Falls, Sturgis Falls in
Cedar Falls, and a few local fairs. The bands favorite
part of the shows is the great feedback from the crowd at every
event and the autograph sessions with the children at the all
ages venues.
Amanda knows that music is an unpredictable industry and it
is important to have diversified interests so Amanda's life
outside of singing is as busy as her life on stage. Amanda is
a 21-year-old junior at UNI (University of Northern Iowa) and
through the summer she has a full time job during the day and
then works at Montana's Family Restaurant as a waitress on nights
and weekends.
